For rejuvenating oxidised asphalt and resurfacing pitted asphalt layers on airfields, residential streets, car parks, driveways, and sports surfaces, Gripset B09 restores the binder content in the asphalt layer to protect the surface against weather degradation.
How it works
Gripset B09 is a cold-applied bituminous surface treatment formulated with polymer technology to provide a modified bitumen coating with high adhesion and impact resistance. The cured film is non-slip, non-tacky, and resists sulphates, ground salts, and diluted acids. It features a cross-linking property with Portland cement; adding a cement slurry to the mix accelerates drying times, allows application over damp surfaces, and provides rapid water ponding resistance when rain is imminent.
Numbers that matter
-
Coverage: 1 litre per 2m² on standard surfaces. A two-coat application is required for optimum durability.
-
Drying times (at 23°C and 50% RH): Tack-free in 20 minutes, recoat in 30 minutes, weatherproof film in 4 to 6 hours, and ready for vehicle or pedestrian traffic in 24 hours. These times improve when cement is added.
-
Solid content: 68% for high-build film thickness that resists cracking, flaking, and chipping under impact.
-
Pot life with cement: 4 hours. Once the cement slurry is incorporated, the mixture must be used within this window.
Where to use it
- Rejuvenating oxidised asphalt on secondary roads, residential streets, and car parks.
- Resurfacing pitted asphalt layers on airfields, bicycle paths, footpaths, and laneways.
- Restoring asphalt driveway surfaces and repairing existing asphalt sport surfaces.
Limitations
- Not designed for major road re-surfacing.
- Do not apply when the surface temperature is below 5°C or above 35°C.
- Do not use in areas subject to heavy or continuous solvent or petroleum spillage.
- Do not use in areas subject to negative hydrostatic pressure.
- Do not use as a waterproof membrane.
Application and mixing
Prepare all asphalt substrates thoroughly to ensure they are structurally sound, stable, dry (unless incorporating cement), and clean. Repair pavement surface cracks using the Gripset B26 Crack Repair method, and address structural defects with Gripset Patch-phalt repair compound. Clean oil, grease, or wax residues using proprietary degreasers and pressure washing. Remove algae or moss with organic growth removal compounds before application.
Stir Gripset B09 before use. Apply using a spray unit, manual squeegee, or self-propelled mechanical squeegee. For applications in cool conditions or when rain is expected within 4 hours, mix 750ml of wet cement slurry (Portland cement powder and water) per 15-litre pail of Gripset B09. Stir at medium speed with a drill and paddle mixer until evenly dispersed.
