Why do I need to prime concrete before an epoxy floor coating?
A penetrating epoxy primer seals the concrete pores, hardens the surface, and gives the coating a sound, well-bonded base. Bare or poorly primed concrete draws resin from the first coat, leaves a weak, dusty surface, and causes the coating to delaminate under traffic.
What is Megapoxy LVS and where is it used?
Megapoxy LVS is a two-component, low-viscosity penetrating epoxy for suitably dry, porous concrete. It reaches 80 MPa compressive strength. It primes and dust-seals factory, warehouse and commercial floors ahead of a compatible Megapoxy coating system.
How long does Megapoxy LVS take to cure before coating?
Megapoxy LVS has a 30-minute work time and cures fully in 24 hours at standard temperature. Warmth speeds it up (12 hours at 35C), cold slows it down (48 hours at 15C). Keep traffic off the floor and coat within the maker's recoat window.
Can I use Megapoxy LVS on damp concrete?
No. Megapoxy LVS is a penetrating primer for dry, porous substrates only. It is not a moisture barrier. On damp concrete or a slab with a high vapour reading, fit a moisture barrier primer first. Let it cure and dry before priming with LVS.
Is Megapoxy LVS the same product as Megapoxy 154?
No. Megapoxy 154 is a water-based epoxy moisture barrier for damp masonry and green concrete, used to control vapour before floor coverings. Megapoxy LVS is a penetrating primer for dry concrete, used ahead of a Megapoxy floor coating system.
