What is MS polymer adhesive and when do I use it?
It is a one-part, moisture-curing adhesive that bonds and flexes at the same time. Use it when you need a permanent elastic bond on substrates that move, vibrate, or shift with temperature. It bonds without mechanical fixings on most building materials.
What will MS-609 stick to?
It bonds to concrete, timber, MDF, glass, aluminium, ceramics, stone, plaster, coated metals, and most plastics including PVC, polystyrene, and fibreglass. It will not bond to bitumen, tar, EPDM, neoprene, or butyl. Test copper and brass before use as it may discolour them.
How fast does it grab?
It grabs in about 1 second. You can position lightweight components without temporary bracing on most vertical installs. Heavy or highly stressed elements still need mechanical support until the adhesive cures fully, which takes 2 mm per 24 hours at 23°C and 50% humidity.
Can I use MS-609 outside?
Yes. Both products in this range are rated for internal and external use. They resist UV exposure and handle temperatures from -40°C to +100°C once cured. The MS-609 has a low VOC content of 38 grams per litre and meets Green Star criteria.
Do I need a primer?
Not for most construction materials. Prime porous concrete, render, and brick with Everflex Supaprime and treat non-porous substrates like aluminium or glazed tile with Adheseal 50A surface prep for critical jobs. Concrete must cure for at least 28 days before you apply.
What should I not use MS-609 for?
Do not use it in aquariums or for structural glazing. Use a glazing silicone like N-80 or N-60. Do not use it in confined spaces because it needs atmospheric humidity to cure. Avoid uncured polyurethanes and do not load the bond until fully cured.
