Why do roof membranes need hot-air welding?
Thermoplastic sheets such as PVC join by melting the overlap with hot air and pressing it together. A welded seam becomes as strong as the sheet. That is how Fatrafol roof sheets close their laps, edges, and details.
What does the UNIDRIVE 500 do?
It is a semi-automatic welder for long overlap seams. It drives itself along the lap at a set speed and temperature. Use it for field seams, edges, and gutters on larger roofs, and check each seam as you go.
When do I use a TRIAC hand tool?
Use a TRIAC AT or ST where the big welder cannot reach: corners, pipes, patches, and small details. The hand tool gives you control of heat and angle on short welds. Test on offcuts before you work the roof.
Can these tools weld any membrane?
No. Hot-air welding suits thermoplastic sheets such as PVC. Liquid membranes, bituminous systems, and bonded sheets join in other ways. Check the membrane's installation data for the welding temperature, speed, and overlap width before you start work.
