Epoxy Floor Coatings

Megapoxy 132 and Megapoxy MC are two-pack epoxy coatings for bare concrete floors. They give you a hard-wearing, hygienic surface that takes forklift traffic, chemical spillage, and frequent wash-down. Use them on exposed concrete in factories, warehouses, hospitals, and food-processing areas. Prime dry, porous concrete with a penetrating epoxy primer...

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are two-pack epoxy floor coatings used?
Two-pack epoxy floor coatings are used on bare concrete floors that need a hard-wearing, hygienic or chemical-resistant finish: factories, warehouses, hospitals, pharmaceutical and food-processing plants, and areas with forklift or heavy foot traffic.
How hard and durable is a cured epoxy floor?
Megapoxy 132 reaches 120 MPa compressive strength and bonds to concrete at over 3 MPa. Megapoxy MC reaches 70 MPa compressive strength. Both form a full vapour barrier once cured. A multi-coat system with a non-slip aggregate broadcast handles heavy traffic.
Is an epoxy floor coating food-safe and potable-water approved?
Megapoxy 132 is AS 4020 potable-water approved, contains no known carcinogens or mutagens, and has a VOC content of 7 g/L. Megapoxy MC is also suited to food-contact structures.
How is an epoxy floor coating applied and how long before service?
Mix the two-pack kit at the maker's ratio, 2 parts base to 1 part hardener. Apply by roller or squeegee in two or three coats. Work time is about 30 minutes. The recoat window is 8 hours.
Do I need to prime the concrete before the epoxy coating?
Yes. Dry, porous concrete should be primed with compatible penetrating epoxy primer, such as Megapoxy LVS. The primer seals the surface, hardens the concrete, and gives the coating a sound bond. Do not apply the coating directly to a dusty, unprimed or damp substrate.
What is the difference between Megapoxy 132 and Megapoxy MC?
Megapoxy 132 is the higher-strength option at 120 MPa compressive strength, with a near-zero water-vapour transmission rate, suited to heavy-duty and sterile environments. Megapoxy MC reaches 70 MPa compressive strength and suits food-contact structures.
