Description  

Gripset BRW PF Tape is a self-adhesive butyl-rubber waterproofing and flashing tape with a fabric face that accepts compatible membranes, tile adhesives, mortars and renders. It makes an immediate seal at prepared junctions, penetrations and flashings without waiting for a liquid sealant to cure.

Where BRW PF Tape fits

  • Wall-to-floor junctions: form a bond-breaker and waterproof transition before covering with a compatible Gripset membrane.
  • Puddle flanges and pipe penetrations: detail waste outlets, PVC pipes, waterstops and other changes of plane.
  • Gutters and metal flashing: seal suitable roofing details, pinholes and pitted metal areas that will receive a specified finish.

Why choose self-adhesive tape?

The high-tack butyl backing seals on contact, while the fabric facing provides a surface for compatible finishes. It is particularly useful for detailing work with awkward shapes or multiple substrate changes. Unlike Elastoproof B10/B50, which is an elastic joint band embedded in a compatible liquid membrane, BRW PF Tape is applied directly to a suitable prepared surface. Sizes and finish

Available in 80 mm × 10 m and 150 mm × 10 m rolls, with a white fabric face and grey butyl backing.

Preparation and limitations

Apply to sound, clean, dry substrates, using a compatible primer where surface condition requires it. Press the tape into full contact without wrinkles or voids, and complete the detail with the specified finish. It is a covered waterproofing component, not a substitute for the complete membrane system or a permanently exposed roof repair. Check the complete system for movement-joint, immersion and water-pressure requirements before installation.

How To Apply  
Prepare the substrate so it is clean, dry, stable and free from dust. Prime porous, dusty or damp substrates with the Gripset primer specified for the condition. Measure and cut the tape to length. Remove the release liner and press the butyl backing firmly into place with the fabric face outward. Roll or smooth the tape to remove air pockets and creases. Apply compatible membranes, adhesives, renders or screeds over the fabric face after the tape is fully bonded.
Limitations and Safety Info  
Do not apply over damp substrates without the specified Gripset E60 moisture-barrier treatment. Do not use solvent-based materials directly over the tape. Do not use against negative hydrostatic pressure. Do not leave exposed externally. Do not use over structural expansion joints. Do not install below 5°C or above 30°C.
