Facade movement joints need a sealant that can stretch without placing excessive stress on the surrounding building materials. SikaHyflex®-250 Facade is a low-modulus, moisture-curing elastic sealant for weatherproofing approved movement and connection joints in building envelopes.
Concrete, masonry and facade joints
Its low-modulus formulation suits specified joints in concrete and masonry facades, including suitable external insulation finishing systems (EIFS). It is intended for exterior weather sealing where thermal movement, joint geometry and substrate condition influence long-term performance.
Movement capability and installation
Sika publishes +100/-50% movement capability to ASTM C719 and ±25% to ISO 9047 under their respective test methods. Design the joint width and depth, use the specified backing material and select primers from Sika's current guidance. For heavy-duty trafficable floor joints rather than facade joints, compare Sikaflex PRO-3 Purform.
