A 30mm studded drainage cell that goes behind retaining walls, planter boxes, green roofs, and below-grade walls. The studs form a void that carries water down to the drain instead of letting it sit against the structure, and the sheet doubles as a protection layer for the waterproofing behind it.
Standard duty 550 grade suits landscape loads. Roll it out dimple-side to the wall, overlap the sheets, and cover with geotextile before backfill.
Is 30 mm HexCell itself a waterproofing membrane?
No. It forms the drainage and protection layer above or beside the waterproofing system. Filter fabric is installed over the cell, and the underlying membrane must already be correctly installed and protected.

Current Ausdrain data specifies 550 × 550 × 30 mm cells, 70% surface void, 70 t/m² compressive strength and flow above 14,400 L/h/m².
Available in Reprolene recycled polypropylene or HDPE.
Place the cells over the prepared surface or waterproofing system and butt adjacent cells together; interlocking is not required.
For additional membrane protection, Ausdrain recommends a 3 mm protection board beneath the drainage cell.
Cover with filter fabric using 150 mm overlaps, protect perimeter edges, then install the specified filtration layer and overburden.
This is a drainage/protection cell, not a waterproofing membrane.
Install filter fabric over the drainage cell so fines do not enter and clog the drainage void.
Where vehicles or machinery will travel over the installed system, Ausdrain requires at least 300 mm of cover before trafficking; project loading and build-up still require engineering confirmation.
