Boat interiors need joints that can flex with vibration and movement. Sikaflex®-291 is Sika’s multipurpose polyurethane adhesive sealant for marine construction and fit-out work, designed to create elastic seals rather than rigid bonds. It is a practical choice for suitable interior joints and general marine sealing where a non-sag bead, weathering resistance and a neat finish matter.
Marine sealing across common boatbuilding materials
Sikaflex-291 can be used for vibration-resistant joint sealing around appropriately prepared timber, metals, two-component paint coatings, ceramics and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). Its one-component formulation cures with atmospheric moisture and can be sanded or overpainted after curing where the finishing system is compatible.
Why choose 291?
It combines the flexibility of a marine joint sealant with adhesion to a broad range of boatbuilding substrates. That makes it useful for general-purpose sealing and interior fit-outs, without implying it replaces specialist products for deck caulking or marine glazing. Available configurations in this listing include cartridge and unipack options; select the colour and pack size that match the job.
Important compatibility guidance
Sikaflex-291 is for experienced professional users. Do not use it on plastics susceptible to stress cracking, including acrylic glazing and polycarbonate. Confirm the correct Sika marine surface pretreatment and test adhesion on the actual materials before installation. Refer to the current Australian product data sheet for application and curing conditions.
