Exposed aggregate on formed concrete starts before the pour. Sika® Rugasol® MH is a surface-retarding treatment applied to suitable formwork to delay hardening of the cement paste at the concrete face. After stripping, the retarded surface layer can be removed to reveal aggregate or create a textured construction joint.
For formed architectural and precast concrete
Rugasol MH is suited to specified exposed-aggregate finishes on vertical formed faces, precast elements and construction joints where a keyed surface is required. It gives contractors a controlled way to produce texture at the formwork interface without mechanically roughening fully hardened concrete.
Choose the correct Rugasol grade
Rugasol MH is applied to formwork before concrete placement. It is not the grade intended for direct application to freshly placed horizontal slabs; Sika Rugasol C serves that different use case. Do not dilute Rugasol MH or mix it with mould oil. Carry out a trial pour to confirm aggregate exposure and washing time before treating a large area.
Supplied in a 10 L pack. Refer to Sika's current Australian technical instructions for formwork preparation, application rate and stripping procedure.
