Durable polyurethane bonding begins with the correct surface pretreatment. Sika® Primer-210 is a colourless to slightly yellow, solvent-based epoxy primer that improves adhesion between many prepared metal surfaces and specified one-component Sika polyurethane adhesives.
Prepare metals for industrial and marine bonding
The moisture-reactive primer forms a thin adhesion-promoting layer on suitable aluminium, steel and non-ferrous metals. It is intended for professional bonding applications, including selected marine and fabrication assemblies where the adhesive system calls for this pretreatment. Some Sikasil® applications may also be suitable when specified by Sika.
Apply one thin, complete coat
Clean, dry and degrease the bonding surface, then apply one thin coat using an appropriate brush, felt, lint-free cloth or foam applicator. Sika lists approximately 50 mL/m² indicative coverage, with flash-off time dependent on temperature and the bonding system. Supplied in a 250 mL can. Check the current Sika pretreatment chart and adhesion requirements; do not dilute or mix the primer with other substances.
For approved substrate and adhesive combinations, flash-off times and handling requirements, see the Sika® Primer-210 Australian Product Data Sheet.
