For concrete that has spalled or lost its original profile, Mapegrout T40 helps rebuild the damaged section without the slump associated with flowing mortars. The thixotropic, fibre-reinforced mix is suited to properly prepared vertical and overhead repairs where the mortar needs to stay in place.

Where to use it

  • Concrete beam and column repairs, balcony edges and exposed concrete faces.
  • Selected overhead and vertical concrete repairs within the specified repair design.

On site

  • Remove weak material, clean and prepare reinforcement, and saturate the concrete as required.
  • Build up the repair in the permitted layer thickness and protect the fresh mortar during curing.

Before you start

Do not use as a precision anchoring grout or on moving, contaminated or poorly prepared concrete. Repair thickness and reinforcement treatment depend on the defect.

What strength is Mapegrout T40?
Current MAPEI Australia data describes it as a 40MPa concrete repair mortar.

How thick can it be applied?
About 30–35mm per layer.

What is the typical consumption?
About 18.5kg/m² per centimetre of thickness.

Can it be used for anchoring?
No. Use a MAPEI anchoring grout for anchoring work.

Thixotropic cementitious repair mortar for damaged concrete on vertical, horizontal and overhead surfaces. Current MAPEI Australia data describes a medium-strength 40MPa repair mortar. Repairs can be built up to about 30–35mm per layer without formwork. Suitable for balconies, columns, beams, tunnels, canals and other concrete repair work. Typical consumption is about 18.5kg/m² per centimetre of thickness.
Remove loose or degraded concrete and mechanically roughen the repair area. Clean exposed reinforcing steel and use the MAPEI reinforcement treatment specified for the repair system. Saturate the concrete with water, then allow excess surface water to evaporate. Mix the 25kg bag with the water quantity stated in the current TDS until a thixotropic mortar forms. Apply by trowel, float or suitable plaster sprayer in layers up to about 30–35mm. Cure the repair to prevent rapid moisture loss.
Do not use where higher compressive strength, high impact or severe abrasion requires a more suitable MAPEI repair mortar. Do not use for anchoring; use the MAPEI anchoring grout specified for that job. Do not apply to smooth unprepared concrete. Do not add cement, other admixtures or extra water after the mortar has begun to set. Do not apply below 5°C.
  • Concrete.
  • Concrete balconies, beams and columns.
  • Concrete tunnel and canal linings.
  • Prepared repair areas around reinforcing steel.
