Mapei Mapecem Pronto is a preblended, rapid-setting cementitious mortar for constructing floor screeds when conventional sand-and-cement drying schedules would hold up the job. Because the aggregate and binder are already proportioned, installers can mix a consistent screed on site without separately batching the sand.
Fast-track screed construction
Mapecem Pronto is suited to correctly designed internal and external screeds, including bonded and unbonded systems where specified. Its controlled-shrinkage formulation is valuable when the flooring programme calls for early covering with compatible ceramic, stone or other finishes, subject to the applicable moisture and curing requirements.
Mapecem Pronto or Mapecem binder?
Choose Mapecem Pronto when you want a ready-proportioned screed mortar. Choose Mapecem binder when the installer is sourcing and proportioning the aggregate on site. Both are screed products, not self-levelling compounds for feather-edge smoothing.
Where the programme benefits
On a retail refurbishment or a staged fit-out, waiting for a conventional screed to dry can hold up tiling and the trades that follow. Mapecem Pronto addresses that bottleneck with a factory-proportioned screed mortar: the installer adds the prescribed water, places and compacts the material, and works to an accelerated covering schedule instead of batching sand and binder separately.
MAPEI lists typical light foot traffic at 2–3 hours, ceramic and stone installation after around 3 hours, and resilient or timber flooring after around 24 hours under stated conditions. These are planning benefits, not unconditional promises: temperature, moisture, screed build-up and the chosen finish still govern when the next trade can proceed.
Before installation
Bonded screeds require the specified fresh bonding slurry and correct base preparation. Screed thickness, mixing water, curing and covering intervals depend on the selected system and conditions; do not apply flooring solely by elapsed time.
