Epoxy resins are primarily used for structural repairs, bonding the concrete back together with high strength, effectively 'welding' the crack. Polyurethane (PU) resins are mainly used for stopping water leaks; they react with water (often foaming and expanding) to create a flexible, waterproof seal within the crack.

Polyurethane (PU) resins, particularly the water-reactive types, are specifically designed for injecting into actively leaking cracks. They utilise the water present to react and form a seal. Epoxy resins generally require a dry or damp (but not actively leaking) substrate for optimal structural bonding.

The choice of packer (e.g., mechanical expansion vs adhesive surface packer, diameter, length) depends on factors like crack width, concrete condition, the required injection pressure, and the specific resin being used.
