When an invisible bond is critical, visible glue lines aren't an option. Everbond Ultra Clear Brush Contact ensures your finished work retains its aesthetic integrity. Achieve a high-strength bond that disappears, keeping the focus on your craftsmanship, not the adhesive. Finish upholstery, laminate panels, or assemble delicate products knowing the adhesive won't compromise the final look.

Why this product exists

Everbond Ultra Clear Brush Contact was developed for applications where a strong, flexible bond is needed without a visible glue line. This one-component polychloroprene adhesive dries clear, making it ideal for lighter-coloured materials or translucent substrates where traditional contact adhesives would show through. It delivers high initial strength and robust heat resistance, ensuring durability in demanding environments like vehicle interiors or custom manufacturing. From bonding delicate fabrics to robust laminates, this adhesive provides a reliable, discreet solution.

The numbers that matter

Achieve touch-dry status in just 3-5 minutes. This short flash-off time dramatically speeds up assembly lines and production schedules, allowing for quick bonding without extensive waiting periods. Once cured, the bond exhibits high heat resistance, maintaining integrity even in temperatures exceeding 120°C when used with an appropriate additive, critical for items exposed to direct sun or heat. With a consumption rate of 6-8 m²/Litre, Everbond Ultra Clear Brush Contact offers efficient coverage, making the most of every litre across large surface areas.

What it's like to use

Prepare all surfaces by ensuring they are clean, dry, and free from oils, fats, or loose materials. Apply Everbond Ultra Clear Brush Contact evenly to both substrates using a brush, rollcoater, or notched trowel. Allow the adhesive to flash off until it is touch dry, typically 3-5 minutes depending on conditions. Once touch dry, bring the surfaces together and apply strong, even pressure. Avoid over-applying or pooling the adhesive, as entrapped solvents can weaken the bond. For best results, apply in temperatures around +20°C. Clean tools and spills with Acetone.

Where this product excels

  • Neoprene Drink Coolers: Securely bond neoprene panels with an invisible seam that withstands flex and environmental exposure, maintaining product aesthetics.
  • Automotive & Furniture Upholstery: Affix fabrics, leather, and vinyl to various substrates without adhesive show-through, critical for high-visibility interior components and finished goods.
  • Transport Vehicle Interiors: Bond covering materials to steps, wheel arches, seat brackets, and side walls, especially where high spring-back forces are present, like with cover trims and edging profiles.
  • Laminating Panels: Permanently attach plastic laminates or cloth-backed vinyl to timber, MDF, or particleboard, ensuring a clean, strong, and visually unblemished finish.

Choose this when

  • When you require a high-strength bond that must remain completely invisible on the finished product.
  • You need a contact adhesive with a fast flash-off time to maintain production efficiency.
  • Your application demands high heat resistance to prevent delamination in warm environments.
  • You are bonding a broad range of substrates including fabrics, leathers, laminates, and foams.

Don't use this when

  • Not for: Applications below +10°C, as condensed water can form on the adhesive and prevent proper bonding.
  • Not for: Situations where excessive adhesive is applied or allowed to pool, as entrapped solvents will cause weak bonds or bond failure.
  • Not for: Open weave or highly porous materials where adhesive bleed-through is a risk; for these, Adheseal spray contact is advised to ensure a clean finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can Everbond Ultra Clear be used for vehicle or furniture upholstery?

Yes, this adhesive is specifically designed for both auto and furniture upholstery. It handles covering materials, including those with high spring-back forces, ensuring a strong, lasting bond without visible glue lines.

What happens if I apply too much Everbond Ultra Clear?

Applying excessive adhesive or pressing substrates together too soon can trap solvents. This weakens the bond, causes blistering, and can lead to bond failure. Apply a thin, even coat to both surfaces.

Is this contact adhesive genuinely clear once cured?

Yes, Everbond Ultra Clear dries colourless. This makes it suitable for applications where visible glue lines are unacceptable, such as bonding clear plastic laminates or during neoprene cooler manufacturing.

What is the minimum application temperature?

Do not apply Everbond Ultra Clear below 10°C. Using it in cold conditions risks condensation forming on the adhesive, which will prevent proper bonding. For best results, apply at 20°C.

Applying Everbond Ultra Clear Brush Contact Adhesive: Protocols & Best Practices

General Application Steps:
  1. Preparation: Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and prepared as per the Adhesion & Preparation Guide. Avoid porous substrates unless tested or use spray contact.
  2. Application: Apply evenly with brush or trowel to both surfaces. Do not pool adhesive.
  3. Tooling & Finishing: Wait 3–5 minutes for flash-off. Then bring surfaces together with firm, even pressure.
  4. Curing: Bond forms immediately under pressure. Protect from stress, heat, or water during initial set period.
Trade-Specific Scenario Guides:
For Upholsterers: Automotive Trim Application

The Engineering Challenge: Creating invisible, heat-resistant bonds on flexible interior surfaces.

The System-Based Solution with Everbond Ultra Clear: Thin clear layer prevents delamination and maintains clean lines.

Best Practice Note: Use mechanical rollers for even pressure distribution.

For Cabinetmakers: Edge Bonding Veneers

The Engineering Challenge: Laminating detailed trims without bleed-through or warping.

The System-Based Solution with Everbond Ultra Clear: Transparent finish and consistent tack enhance visual presentation.

Best Practice Note: Mask surrounding surfaces before application to avoid overspill.

Product limitations

  • Not for: Applications below 10°C, as condensed water may form and prevent proper bonding.
  • Not for: Open weave or highly porous materials where bleeding through the substrate is a concern. Adheseal spray contact is advised for these applications.
  • Avoid: Applying excessive adhesive or bonding substrates too early. This traps solvents, leading to weak bonds or blistering.
  • Note: While high heat resistant, performance over 120°C was recorded with a 2P additive.

Safety and handling

DANGER

Personal protective equipment

Wear protective clothing, safety shoes, overalls, chemical goggles, and suitable gloves. Use an organic vapour/particulate respirator (AS/NZS 1715 and AS/NZS 1716) if inhalation risk exists. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Ventilation

Use only in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Ensure adequate ventilation to keep air concentrations below exposure standards. Use local exhaust ventilation where necessary.

First aid

  • Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Keep at rest in a comfortable position for breathing. Seek medical advice if effects persist.
  • Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Flush skin and hair with plenty of soap and water. If irritation or blistering occurs, seek medical assistance.
  • Eye contact: Flush eyes immediately with water. Seek medical advice as a sensible precaution.
  • Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth and give a glass of water. Immediately call a Poisons Information Centre (Aust: 131126) or Doctor.

Storage and disposal

Store locked up, in original, undamaged packaging, in dry conditions, out of direct sunlight, at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C. Keep containers tightly closed in a well-ventilated, cool place, away from heat and ignition sources. Dispose of contents and container according to local, regional, and national regulations.
