SA Contractors Silicone Sealant is a fast-curing acetoxy silicone for general glazing, shopfronts, glass-to-aluminium sealing, sheet metal, signage and exterior weatherproofing on compatible substrates. It is a practical contractor silicone for standard glazing and fabrication work where quick skinning, strong adhesion and long-term UV resistance are important.
The acetic-cure chemistry gives SA Contractors its fast initial cure and strong performance on glass, ceramics and aluminium, but it also defines where the product should not be used. For sensitive masonry, galvanised metals or other incompatible substrates, choose a suitable neutral-cure sealant instead.
SA Contractors is particularly well suited to standard glazing of frames and panels, shopfront sealing and other compatible glass-to-frame joints. It can also be used for sheet-metal skylights, ventilators, air-conditioning units, environmental and refrigerated rooms, metal and plastic sign assembly, weatherproofing and form-in-place gaskets.
SA Contractors Silicone is suited to compatible glass, aluminium, ceramics, wood and many plastics. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, oil, rust and water before application. Compatibility testing is recommended where coatings, laminated glass, plastics or other variable materials are involved.
Joint width and depth should be at least 4 mm. Maximum joint width is 25 mm, with joint depth generally controlled to half the width and no more than 10 mm. Use suitable polyethylene backing material or bond-breaker tape to control sealant depth and prevent adhesion to the back of the joint.
Apply the silicone continuously so it wets both joint faces, then tool immediately to achieve a smooth finish and reliable contact. Because the product skins quickly, complete tooling before the surface begins to cure.
SA Contractors is an acetoxy glazing silicone, so it is best kept to compatible glass, aluminium, ceramic and general fabrication work. For high-movement window perimeters, curtain walls, façades, galvanised steel or masonry interfaces, compare neutral-cure products such as DOWSIL 791 or Adheseal N70.

Can SA Contractors Silicone be used on concrete or marble?
No. Its acetic-cure chemistry is not recommended for concrete, marble, galvanised steel or lead.
How much movement can it accommodate?
It is rated for ±25% joint movement.
Can it be painted?
No. Paint will not adhere reliably to the cured silicone.
What joint size is recommended?
