Description  

Adheseal Methylated Spirits 95% is an ethanol-based cleaning solvent for suitable trade tools, workshop equipment and compatible hard surfaces. Commonly called metho in Australia, it dries quickly and is useful where a general alcohol cleaning method is specified.

Choose methylated spirits for general cleaning of compatible equipment, rather than assuming it has the same performance as IPA Cleaner. This product contains at least 95% ethanol; IPA Cleaner is isopropyl alcohol and is specifically positioned for adhesive and primer surface preparation.

Where metho is used

  • Workshop and tool wipe-down: removing light contamination from suitable hard equipment.
  • General non-porous surface cleaning: cleaning tested metal, glass and other alcohol-resistant finishes.
  • Compatible residue clean-up: removing selected uncured products only where their cleaning instructions permit ethanol.

Before cleaning

Test the finish first. Alcohol can soften or mark varnishes, paints, coatings and some plastics. Avoid treating metho as an approved primer cleaner for every adhesive system; use the specific cleaner and drying method required by the next product.

Flammable liquid, Dangerous Goods Class 3. Keep away from ignition sources, ventilate the area and use suitable gloves and eye protection. Follow the product SDS for handling, storage and disposal.

How To Apply  
Apply a small amount to a clean lint-free cloth or suitable cleaning applicator. Wipe the compatible non-porous surface until oil, grease or uncured residue is removed. Use fresh cloth faces so contamination is not spread back across the surface. Allow the solvent to evaporate completely before subsequent bonding, sealing or coating. Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
