For prep work prior to applying adhesives, sealants, or surface primers, Adheseal IPA Cleaner removes surface contaminants to ensure a clean substrate and a reliable bond. This 100% isopropyl alcohol cleaner removes fluxes, light oils, grime, and oxides, then evaporates within seconds without leaving a residue or compromising the cure of subsequent compounds.
How it works
By stripping away surface oils and contaminants, the cleaner prepares the substrate for maximum bond strength. Because it evaporates rapidly leaving zero residue, it does not interfere with the chemical curing of PU, MS, Acrylic, or Silicone compounds. It is compatible with a wide range of common construction substrates and is safe on most plastics.
Where to use it
The cleaner is suitable for preparing substrates prior to applying Adheseal 50A surface prep, primers, sealants, adhesives, and membranes. Compatible substrates include:
- Masonry, brick, stone, and porcelain
- Metal, aluminium, and powder coat
- Timber, rubber, and fibreglass
- Most plastics and painted surfaces
- Waterproof membranes
Limitations
- Do not use in environments where fire is present.
- Do not mix with bleach.
- May damage paint, wood finishes, and varnish.
- A preliminary test must be conducted before use to ensure the cleaner does not affect the substrate, as affected areas may take time to show damage.
Application instructions
Always work in a well-ventilated area. Dampen a clean, dry rag—preferably white to avoid dye transfer—by placing it firmly over the top of the bottle and tipping the bottle over. Do not allow the liquid to drip or pool on the floor or your hands. Wipe the material down slowly and gently, then allow it to dry.
Ensure no pools of liquid are left behind; wipe away any excess with a clean, dry, white rag. You may use a cool blow dryer to clear away any residual fibres or dust left by the rag. Once there is no evidence of residue, you can begin applying your primers, sealants, adhesives, or membranes.
