Everflex Multi-Prime is a water-based acrylic primer for porous and selected non-porous substrates before compatible waterproofing membranes, levelling compounds, tile adhesives and grouts. It offers a practical preparation option where one job includes different surface types.

Unlike Everflex WBP, which is targeted at absorbent substrates, Multi-Prime is designed for both surface categories when used with the correct preparation and dilution. Apply diluted product to suitable porous concrete and cementitious surfaces; apply neat to approved non-porous surfaces.

Typical applications

  • Concrete and screeds: controlling absorption before compatible Everflex membranes.
  • Tile and levelling preparation: priming approved substrates before selected cement-based tile adhesives or floor levellers.
  • Burnished concrete: preparation for suitable finishes after the prescribed abrasion and cleaning.
  • Selected existing tiles and painted surfaces: providing a bonding interface on compatible, prepared surfaces, excluding unsupported high-gloss finishes.
  • Mixed-material waterproofing substrates: creating a consistent base across approved boards, renders and masonry.

Application

On porous substrates, dilute one part primer with two parts clean water for the initial coat; exceptionally porous surfaces may need a further diluted coat. On appropriate non-porous surfaces use undiluted Multi-Prime after surface preparation. Allow to dry before covering with a compatible system. Do not use as a moisture-vapour barrier or on wet, contaminated or persistently damp surfaces, and do not leave it UV exposed.

What is Everflex Multi-Prime used for?
It prepares porous and non-porous substrates before compatible waterproofing, levelling and tiling systems.

What coverage should I allow?
About 5–10m² per litre depending on substrate porosity.

How long does it take to dry?
About 1 hour at 23°C to a translucent film.

Should it be diluted?
Dilute for porous substrates as specified; apply neat on non-porous surfaces.

Single-part water-based acrylic primer for both porous and non-porous construction substrates. Designed before compatible waterproofing membranes, self-levelling compounds, cement-based tile adhesives and grouts. Typical coverage is about 5–10m² per litre depending on substrate porosity. Cure time is about 1 hour at 23°C to a translucent film. Porous substrates can be diluted; non-porous substrates are primed neat.
Prepare the surface so it is structurally sound, dry and free from dust, oil, curing compounds and contaminants. For porous substrates, dilute 1 part Everflex Multi-Prime with 2 parts clean water and apply evenly. Exceptionally porous surfaces may require a second coat using the dilution specified in the current technical guidance. For non-porous substrates, apply the primer neat. Allow about 5–10m² per litre depending on porosity and allow about 1 hour at 23°C to dry to a translucent film.
Apply only to structurally sound, dry and clean substrates. Do not trap dust, oil, curing compounds or other contamination beneath the primer. Use the dilution specified for porous substrates and apply neat on non-porous surfaces. Allow the primer to dry before applying the compatible subsequent system.
  • Porous concrete, screeds and cementitious surfaces.
  • Prepared ceramic and other compatible non-porous tile surfaces.
  • Fibre-cement and compatible sheet substrates.
  • Other porous and non-porous construction substrates approved by Adheseal.

Everflex Multi-Prime Acrylic Primer - Use Cases

Here are some common examples on where Everflex Multi-Prime Acrylic Primer used by our customers.

Civil Construction

Multi-Surface Membrane Adhesion

Create a reliable bond for waterproofing membranes over varied construction materials like concrete or pre-cast walls.

Provides versatile adhesion across both porous and non-porous building materials, critical for a durable membrane system.

  • Porous and non-porous substrates
  • Concrete after 28 days cure
  • Compatible Everflex Membranes
  • Green (6034) colour

Flooring

Self-Levelling Compound Primer

Prepare concrete or screed subfloors before applying self-levelling compounds for an even, durable finish.

Prevents common issues like pinholing and substrate suction, promoting optimal flow and adhesion for a level floor.

  • Primer for Self-levelling compounds
  • Dilutable 1:2 for porous concrete
  • 1 hour dry time @ 23°C
  • Non-toxic low VOC

Tiling

Prime Non-Porous Surfaces

Needing to bond tile adhesives or self-levelling compounds to smooth, low-porosity surfaces like existing tiles or burnished concrete.

This primer creates an essential bond layer, ensuring robust adhesion of subsequent finishes where conventional methods would fail.

  • Suitable for non-porous substrates
  • Apply neat to ceramic tiles
  • Bonds to burnished concrete
  • Primer for self-levelling compounds

Waterproofing

Wet Area Substrate Priming

Prepare diverse substrates in bathrooms, laundries, or kitchens for waterproofing membranes or tiling installations.

Ensures consistent, reliable adhesion for subsequent finishes across varied porous and non-porous surfaces in humid environments.

  • 1 hour dry time @ 23°C
  • Resists mould and mildew
  • Low VOC green star criteria
  • Compatible Everflex Membranes

Civil Construction

Concrete Membrane Preparation

Preparing cured concrete surfaces for waterproofing membranes in structural or below-grade applications like lift pits and retaining walls.

It promotes strong adhesion of waterproofing systems to concrete, crucial for durability in demanding civil and structural environments.

  • For concrete cured 28 days
  • Primer for waterproofing membranes
  • Low VOC, Green Star criteria
  • Resists mould and mildew
