A fire-rated joint is a tested assembly, not simply a bead of sealant. Sikaflex®-400 Fire is a one-component polyurethane sealant used in specified fire-resistant movement and connection joints where the complete construction detail meets the relevant tested configuration.
Fire-rated building joints
Use this grey sealant for approved internal or external joint details in suitable porous and non-porous substrates. Its elastic polyurethane formulation accommodates movement while forming part of a correctly designed fire-resisting joint system.
What determines the fire rating?
Sika references fire resistance up to four hours only for tested configurations. Joint width and depth, backing material, substrate and installation method can change the performance. Check the project fire engineering requirements and the applicable Sika test reports before ordering or installing. Supplied in a 600 ml grey foil pack.
