For interior floor preparation where levelling compounds or cementitious adhesives must bond reliably to both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces, Eco Prim T Plus Primer establishes a high-adhesion keyway. This solvent-free acrylic resin-based primer in water dispersion prepares challenging substrates—including very compact concrete, old adhesive residues, non-porous ceramic tiles, and moisture-stable timber—to prevent debonding and levelling failures.
How it works
Eco Prim T Plus Primer forms a flexible, water-resistant film that bridges the gap between the substrate and the subsequent smoothing compound or mortar. When applied to porous surfaces like cementitious renders or gypsum, it regulates substrate absorption to prevent the levelling compound from drying out too quickly. On non-absorbent surfaces like terrazzo, ceramic, or natural stone, it provides the mechanical grip necessary for cementitious materials to adhere. It also functions as a bonding aid over non-sanded epoxy or polyurethane moisture vapour barriers, such as Primer MF or Mapeproof 1K Turbo, provided the subsequent levelling layer is kept under 10 mm in thickness.
Numbers that matter
-
0.10 to 0.20 kg/m² consumption: Coverage rate varies within this range depending on the porosity of your substrate and the application method.
-
15 to 40 minute drying times: Rapid initial drying of 15 to 20 minutes on concrete and wood, and 30 to 40 minutes on non-porous ceramic.
-
2 to 5 hour window before covering: Wait 2 to 3 hours over concrete or wood, and 4 to 5 hours over ceramic before applying adhesives or smoothing compounds. Do not wait longer than 24 hours.
-
42% dry solids content: High-solids fluid liquid formulation (density of 1.02 g/cm³) that delivers consistent film build by brush or roller.
-
ASTM D 1308-87 compliance: Meets the standard for resistance to urine, making it suitable for specialized commercial floor installations.
Where to use it
-
Absorbent substrates: Cementitious renders, concrete floors, gypsum, anhydrite, wood, marine plywood, and chipboard.
-
Non-absorbent substrates: Existing ceramic tiles, terrazzo, natural stone, and water-resistant old adhesive residues.
-
Barrier consolidation: Substrates waterproofed or consolidated with Primer MF or Mapeproof 1K Turbo, where the surface has not been sprinkled with sand.
Limitations
-
Interior use only: Apply Eco Prim T Plus Primer only on internal flooring.
-
No rising damp: Do not apply on substrates subject to rising damp or hydrostatic pressure. Unbonded screeds over light-weight concrete or bare ground must have a vapour barrier.
-
Timber stability: Apply only on moisture-stable wood and timber substrates.
-
Substrate exclusions: Do not use on magnesium substrates; use Primer EP or Mapeprim SP instead.
Application and dilution
Ensure all substrates are uniformly dry, sound, and free of dust, loose particles, paint, wax, oil, rust, or other bond-inhibiting contaminants. Apply the primer using a brush or roller. Dilute the primer 1 to 2 with water when applying to absorbent cementitious or anhydrite surfaces. Apply undiluted on non-porous surfaces, including existing ceramic tile, natural stone, wood, and water-resistant adhesive residues. For applications over unsanded Primer MF or Mapeproof 1K Turbo moisture barriers, apply Eco Prim T Plus Primer undiluted once the barrier is dry (2 to 4 hours) and strictly within 24 hours of the barrier application.
