Description  

Adheseal IPA Cleaner is a 100% isopropyl alcohol surface preparation cleaner for removing light oils, grease, flux and grime before applying compatible primers, sealants or adhesives. It evaporates quickly and is especially useful before Adheseal Primer 50A on suitable non-porous surfaces.

Choose IPA when a controlled bonding-surface wipe is required, rather than a strong adhesive-stripping solvent. It can clean many metals, suitable powder coats, glass, fibreglass and tested plastics without leaving an intentional cleaning film.

Common applications

  • Primer 50A preparation: removing light contamination from appropriate non-porous surfaces before an adhesion-promoter wipe.
  • Sealant and adhesive joints: cleaning compatible metal or coated interfaces ahead of specified bonding.
  • Workshop equipment: removing suitable grease and light residues from resistant components.
  • Sign and fabrication panels: wiping compatible glass, powder-coated and plastic surfaces after testing.

Application and precautions

Dampen a clean, lint-free cloth and wipe gently, avoiding puddles. Remove excess and allow full evaporation before proceeding with the next product. Test an inconspicuous area first: IPA can damage paint, varnish, wood finishes and some plastics, even when effects are not immediately visible.

Flammable alcohol: keep away from heat, sparks and flames, use ventilation and suitable PPE, and never mix with bleach. IPA is not intended to dissolve fully cured adhesives or replace the preparation method specified by the adhesive manufacturer.

How To Apply  
Dampen a clean, dry lint-free cloth with a small amount of IPA Cleaner. Wipe the surface slowly to lift oil, grease and contamination. Use clean cloth faces so removed contamination is not redeposited. Wipe away any excess liquid and allow the surface to evaporate fully dry. Proceed with the primer, sealant or adhesive only after no solvent residue remains.
Limitations and Safety Info  
Highly flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks and ignition sources. Use with adequate ventilation and follow the current SDS for handling and PPE. Do not mix with bleach. May damage paints, wood finishes, varnishes and some plastics. Always test a small inconspicuous area before full use. Do not leave pools of solvent on the substrate.
