For cleaning polyurethane adhesives or thinning epoxies, lacquers, and polyester resins, Adheseal Acetone is a fast-drying solvent that dissolves many natural and synthetic gums, waxes, oils, and dyes.
What it does
Adheseal Acetone is a clear, water-thin solvent that acts as both a cleanup agent and a viscosity reducer. It readily mixes with water, alcohols, esters, ethers, and other organic solvents to clear residues from application equipment. As a thinner, it modifies the working consistency of acetone-based PVC and polyurethane adhesives, as well as polyester resins used in fiberglass boat and automotive repairs.
Where to use it
This solvent is suitable for use with:
- Polyurethane and PVC adhesives
- Epoxies and lacquers
- Polyester resins and fibreglass
- Natural and synthetic gums, waxes, oils, and dyes
Limitations
- Do not use for cleaning equipment used for polystyrene foam, as the solvent will attack and dissolve polystyrene foam.
- This is an extremely flammable solvent. To prevent hazardous, flammable vapour build-up, limit the amount used at any one time to a few ounces.
- Sensitive individuals may experience skin irritation and sensitisation upon contact.
Numbers that matter
-
0.792 specific gravity: Represents a highly volatile, light liquid that is water-thin for rapid mixing and thinning.
-
-95°C freezing point: Ensures the solvent remains in a liquid, usable state well below standard operating temperatures.
-
0.5% maximum water content: Low moisture levels prevent unwanted chemical reactions and moisture-contamination when thinning sensitive epoxies and resins.
