When the joint needs to hold, even under abuse. When components require a robust bond without the added step of priming. Hi-Flex 60 is engineered to deliver a secure, durable seal and adhesive bond across diverse applications. It stands up to picking and offers reliable performance where lesser sealants fail.

Why this product exists

Hi-Flex 60 is a high modulus (Shore A 55) MS Polymer-based hybrid adhesive/sealant developed for robust bonding and sealing in demanding environments. It addresses the need for anti-pick performance in public areas like schools, prisons, and other high-traffic spaces, where sealant integrity is critical. This formulation also provides outstanding primer-less adhesion on non-porous substrates, simplifying application and reducing failure points caused by missed priming. Free from isocyanates, solvents, and acids, it offers a safer profile for users and prevents compatibility issues with sensitive materials. Hi-Flex 60 ensures long-term durability, preventing common failures such as sealant degradation, adhesion loss, and premature cracking, even when components have different thermal expansion rates.

The numbers that matter

  • Shore A 55 Hardness: This high modulus rating translates directly to the product's anti-pick performance, making it highly resistant to tampering and damage in public and high-traffic areas. The seal remains intact where softer products would be compromised.
  • Movement Capability +/-25%: Hi-Flex 60 maintains its integrity across a quarter of the joint width, ensuring a permanently flexible and waterproof seal. This movement capacity is crucial for joints connecting materials with different thermal expansion coefficients or subject to dynamic loads, preventing premature cracking and delamination.
  • Primer-less Adhesion on Non-Porous Substrates: Achieve strong, reliable bonds on common non-porous building materials without the need for a separate primer. This simplifies surface preparation, saves time on-site, and reduces the risk of adhesion failure due to incorrect priming.
  • Non-Staining (ASTM C510 & ASTM C1248): The formulation is proven not to bleed or stain adjacent porous substrates, preserving the aesthetic quality of facades, prefabricated panels, and other visible elements.

What it's like to use

Hi-Flex 60 is designed for user-friendly application, with easy gunning and tooling. Tool the sealant within approximately 10 minutes of application to achieve a smooth finish before it skins over. The product cures at a rate of 3mm per 24 hours under standard atmospheric conditions (25°C and 50% humidity), ensuring a durable, flexible seal. For wet clean-up of tools and spills, use Xylene. For skin clean-up, Adheseal Hand Wipes are recommended. For optimal adhesion on porous substrates like concrete or brick, prime surfaces with Everflex Supaprime Sealant Primer. On critical non-porous surfaces, use Adheseal 50A Surface Prep after mechanical abrasion to enhance bond strength. For joint depth control and to prevent three-sided adhesion, use a compatible Adheseal backer rod.

Where this product excels

  • Civil Construction & Public Spaces: Secure joints in prefabricated buildings, concrete panels, and public infrastructure where high durability and anti-pick properties are essential. Its robust nature makes it suitable for areas prone to vandalism or heavy traffic.
  • Caravan, Truck & Marine Manufacturing: Effectively bonds XPS Foam Core Reinforced sandwich panels and performs general sealing in automotive and marine manufacturing. It handles the dynamic conditions of vehicular movement and marine environments.
  • Sheet Metal & Aluminium Fabrication: Ideal for aluminium fabrication, seam sealing, and bolted lap joints. Its primer-less adhesion on non-porous metals and paintable finish integrate seamlessly into fabrication processes.
  • General Building & Interior Fit-Out: Use for adhesive applications such as securing acoustic ceiling tiles or display signs. Its non-corrosive, low VOC formulation ensures compatibility with diverse building materials and contributes to healthier indoor environments.

How it fits in a real system

Hi-Flex 60 serves as a critical final seal or adhesive bond in various construction and manufacturing assemblies. After thorough surface preparation, apply the sealant into the joint, often over a compatible backer rod for optimal depth and two-sided adhesion. For non-porous substrates that require enhanced bond strength, apply Adheseal 50A Surface Prep prior to sealant application. On porous surfaces, use Everflex Supaprime Sealant Primer to promote adhesion and ensure long-term joint integrity.

Choose this when

  • When you need an anti-pick sealant with high Shore A 55 hardness for public or high-security areas.
  • When bonding XPS Foam Core Reinforced sandwich panels or other common building components without a primer on non-porous substrates.
  • When sealing joints in prefabricated buildings or concrete panels that require +/-25% movement capability and excellent UV resistance.
  • When seeking a paintable, low VOC, isocyanate-free adhesive sealant for aluminium fabrication or automotive/marine manufacturing.

Don't use this when

  • Not for: Long-term water immersion or internal swimming pool applications, especially with high chlorine exposure.
  • Not for: Structural glazing applications; for these, consider products like N-80 or N-60 glazing silicones.
  • Not for: Totally confined spaces, as the sealant requires atmospheric humidity for proper curing.
  • Not for: Use on all stone without prior stain testing; S100 is generally recommended for marble and granite after testing.
  • Not for: Application on copper and brass where discolouration is unacceptable, or on bituminous, natural rubber, or EPDM rubber surfaces.

Hi-Flex 60 is non-toxic and low VOC, meeting Green Star environmental criteria, supporting sustainable building practices. Its non-staining properties are verified by ASTM C510 and ASTM C1248, ensuring compatibility with sensitive aesthetic materials.

When to choose Hi-Flex 60 over Hi-Flex 50

Hi-Flex 60 is distinguished by its high Shore A 55 modulus and anti-pick performance, making it the clear choice for demanding public areas and specific structural bonding tasks like XPS foam panels. While both are MS Polymer hybrids, Adheseal Hi-Flex 50 Low-Modulus Waterproofing Membrane is designed for a higher movement capability (+/-35%) and excels as a versatile, low modulus sealant suitable for general construction, waterproofing membranes, and bond breaker applications. Choose Hi-Flex 60 when you need a stiffer, more resilient seal and bond, particularly where physical abuse or specific panel bonding is a concern, and Hi-Flex 50 for more dynamic, higher movement joints or as a general-purpose waterproofing sealant.
