Start with a sound, clean, dry substrate. Remove oil, grease, dirt, laitance, old sealants, and loose coatings by wire brushing, grinding, or grit blasting. Repair damaged joint edges with a suitable Sika repair product before you go further.
For sealing, insert closed-cell polyethylene backing rod to the correct depth, prime where the TDS calls for it, then extrude the sealant into the joint and tool it firmly against both sides. Use a compatible tooling agent and strip masking tape before the skin forms.
For bonding, apply triangular beads, strips, or spots at intervals, then press components into place before skin time. Use temporary supports or wedges on heavy items until full strength develops. Clean tools and uncured material with Sika Remover-208 immediately after use.
Application temperature sits between 5°C and 40°C for both air and substrate. Keep the substrate at least 3°C above the dew point and free from frost. Avoid applying during rapid temperature changes while the product is still curing.
