Everflex JS is a high-performance hybrid acrylic joint sealant engineered for the extreme thermal cycling of commercial facades and precast concrete panels. Featuring a low modulus formula with ±50% movement capability, it accommodates double the movement of standard sealants while maintaining a non-staining, UV-stable bond to timber, metal, and masonry.
To prevent adhesive failure, ensure a 2:1 width-to-depth ratio (6mm minimum to 10mm maximum depth) using Adhefoam backer rod, and avoid application if rain is forecast within 90 minutes to prevent washout. Tested to ASTM C-732 and TT-S-00230C standards, it provides professional-grade durability with an isocyanate-free, water-cleanup workflow.
Priming is not normally required for most common building materials like timber, brickwork, concrete, and metal. Everflex JS has been formulated for superior adhesion. However, for any surfaces you're unsure about, it's always best practice to conduct a small adhesion test first.
The recommended sealant depth is a minimum of 6mm and a maximum of 10mm, regardless of the joint width. For optimal performance, always maintain a joint width-to-depth ratio of 2:1. Use Adhefoam backer rod or a bond breaker tape to control the depth and prevent three-sided adhesion.
No. Everflex JS is a water-based sealant during its curing phase. You should not apply it if rain is evident within 90 minutes of application. Rain can cause washouts before the sealant has had sufficient time to form a protective skin, which will compromise the joint integrity.
| Application / Use Case | Key Benefit | Primary Trades |
|---|---|---|
| Precast & Tilt-Up Panel Joints | +/-50% movement capability accommodates high levels of thermal expansion and contraction without failure. | Facade Installers, Concreters, Builders |
| Perimeter Sealing of Windows & Doors | Superior primerless adhesion to multiple substrates (timber, metal, masonry) creates a durable, weatherproof seal. | Window Installers, Carpenters, Builders |
| Blockwork & Brickwork Control Joints | Excellent elasticity and durability prevent cracking and water ingress in masonry movement joints. | Bricklayers, Builders, Remedial Contractors |
| Sealing Joints in Metalwork & Timber | Non-staining formula with strong adhesion is ideal for architectural finishes where appearance is critical. | Carpenters, Fabricators, Builders |
A successful joint starts with proper preparation. All surfaces must be completely clean, sound, dry, and free from contaminants like dust, grease, laitance, or loose material that could prevent a solid bond.
Ensure backer rod or bond breaker tape is installed to achieve the correct sealant depth (6mm to 10mm). Apply Everflex JS with steady pressure, ensuring the sealant fills the joint and makes full contact with the sides.
Tool the sealant off immediately after application using a spatula. Push the sealant into the joint to ensure good wet-out and a solid contact area. Aim for a flat or slightly convex finish.
Wear protective gloves (e.g., Nitrile Rubber) and safety glasses. Avoid direct skin and eye contact. Although not classified as hazardous, the product can cause skin and eye irritation.
Use in well-ventilated areas. Inhalation of vapours may cause respiratory irritation. If ventilation is inadequate, appropriate respiratory protection should be worn.
For all poisoning concerns, contact the Poisons Information Centre (Australia: 131 126).
Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry, and free from any dirt, grease, laitance, or loose particles. Use a wire brush or grinder to remove any contaminants that could hinder adhesion. Blow out joints with oil-free compressed air.
For standard, sound masonry and concrete, priming is not required. For suspect or friable surfaces, an adhesion test is recommended.
All surfaces must be clean, dry and sound. For painted timber, ensure paint is well-adhered. For metals, remove any oxidation or corrosion and ensure the surface is free of oils or protective films.
Everflex JS provides excellent primerless adhesion to most common frame materials. Ensure surfaces are thoroughly cleaned for best results.
Ensure plastic surfaces are clean, dry, and free from any grease or release agents. A light solvent wipe with a compatible cleaner may be required. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Adhesion to acrylic and polycarbonate is excellent, but due to the wide variety of plastic compositions, an adhesion test is always best practice.
