Description  

EP Waterproofing System is a penetrating masonry treatment for concrete, brick, blockwork and other absorbent cementitious surfaces. Rather than forming a membrane on top, it reacts within suitable mineral substrates to help reduce water ingress, surface dusting and deterioration.

Choose EP when the job involves sound, absorbent masonry, such as a concrete wall, floor or below-ground structure, and a surface-applied film is not the preferred treatment. It is different from Everflex Aqua-Ban, which forms a flexible, continuous under-tile waterproofing membrane for wet areas.

Where EP can be used

  • Basement and masonry walls: treating suitable brickwork, blockwork and concrete where penetration can help control water entry.
  • Concrete floors and warehouses: reducing surface dusting and improving the durability of sound mineral surfaces.
  • Reservoirs, tunnels and civil concrete: treating suitable masonry elements when the complete project design and exposure requirements have been assessed.
  • Concrete repair and screed preparation: helping manage absorption in compatible existing mineral substrates before subsequent finishing.

Before choosing or applying EP

Absorption is essential. Test a small area before committing: dense, previously sealed or contaminated materials may not allow the liquid to penetrate. Apply undiluted to thoroughly prepared surfaces using suitable low-pressure spray equipment or another controlled method. Coverage varies with porosity; allow the penetrating reaction to develop before applying compatible coatings or finishes.

EP is not a liquid-applied elastomeric membrane and cannot bridge open cracks, fill holes or replace properly detailed shower or balcony waterproofing. Existing silicone, siloxane or solvent-based treatments can prevent absorption. The available EP product literature is older; project-specific negative-pressure and performance requirements should be confirmed rather than assumed for every substrate.

The current product evidence states 60psi negative hydrostatic pressure.

What coverage should I allow?
About 5–7m² per litre on typical porous masonry, or about 4–5m² per litre on highly absorbent plaster or shotcrete.

Can it bridge cracks?
No. Physical cracks and holes need separate repair.

How long to full cure?
About 6–7 days.

Uses & Benefits  
Penetrating inorganic treatment for concrete, brick, mortar and natural stone affected by water ingress, dampness or surface dusting. Reacts within porous mineral substrates rather than forming a surface film. Current product evidence states resistance to 60psi negative hydrostatic pressure. Typical coverage is about 5–7m² per litre, reducing to about 4–5m² per litre on highly absorbent plaster or shotcrete. Full internal cure develops over about 6–7 days.
How To Apply  
Prepare the mineral surface so it is clean, dry and free from dirt, oil, grease, rust, mildew, loose paint and contamination. Test a small area first and confirm the liquid is absorbed. Apply neat with a low-pressure sprayer, brush, roller, mop or flooding method until the surface is saturated. For spray application, keep pressure at or below about 20psi. Allow the internal chemical reaction to proceed before subsequent coatings or floor finishes. Allow about 6–7 days for full cure.
Limitations and Safety Info  
Do not apply over surfaces previously treated with silicone, siloxane or solvent-based water repellents that prevent penetration. Do not apply where a test area will not absorb the liquid. Does not bridge cracks or fill physical holes. Do not use on very open quick-stage block where the pore structure is too large for the treatment. Apply only above 7°C and keep ground and air temperature above 5°C for at least 24 hours after application. Apply neat. Do not dilute or mix with other chemicals.
