Duram 195 is a single-pack, moisture-curing polyurethane membrane engineered for high-stakes waterproofing in non-UV-exposed structural slabs and retaining walls. This aromatic formulation cures into a seamless elastomeric film with Class III extensibility exceeding 360% elongation, ensuring watertight integrity across joints and dynamic cracks without the risk of re-emulsification.
When integrated into a compliant system with Multithane ATC for UV protection, Duram 195 meets AS 4654.1 standards while providing the hydrostatic resistance necessary for permanent immersion in planter boxes and below-ground pits.
Yes, with a topcoat. Duram 195 must be over-coated with Multithane ATC for UV exposure. Without the aliphatic topcoat, the aromatic PU will slowly degrade in sunlight, reducing service life.
Floors/tanking typically require ~1.5 mm DFT (two coats at ~0.75 L/m² per coat; total ~1.5 L/m²). Vertical surfaces are typically ~1.0 mm DFT. Always verify coverage against substrate porosity and site conditions.
Direct tile adhesion is not advised. Best practice is to top with a sand/cement screed (with appropriate bonding agents if required) and provide movement joints in accordance with AS 3958.1.
Indicative guide: Touch dry ~4–6 h, recoat 6–24 h, and full cure ~48 h+. Conditions such as temperature, humidity, substrate and ventilation will affect actual times.
| Application / Use Case | Key Benefit | Primary Trades |
|---|---|---|
| Wet areas (floors & upturns) | Seamless Class III film under screeds/tiles; no re-emulsification | Tilers, Waterproofers |
| Balconies, decks, terraces, podiums | AS 4654.1 compliance when top-coated; durable movement accommodation | Waterproofers, Builders |
| Planters, retaining walls, landscaped areas | Hydrostatic resistance; robust under protection/drainage layers | Remedial, Waterproofers |
| Pits, bunding, water-retaining structures | Suitable for immersion; chemical resistance for demanding sites | Remedial, Asset Maintenance |
| Roofs & gutters (with ATC topcoat) | UV-stable system using aliphatic Multithane ATC over Duram 195 | Waterproofers, Builders |
Ensure substrates are sound, dry and clean. Repair blowholes/defects with Resiflex FC; allow to cure. Rebate wastes and seal perimeters.
If moisture risk exists, specify two coats of Primeseal MC before membrane to prevent gassing.
Seal cracks/joints with Resiflex FC; reinforce with Leak-Seal Tape where live movement is expected.
Apply by brush, roller, broom or squeegee in two coats to achieve target DFT.
~1.5 L/m² total; aim for ~1.5 mm DFT (each coat ~0.5 mm dry).
Typically ~1.0 mm DFT (as specified); water-resistant non-tanking walls minimum ~0.75 L/m² at ~0.5 mm DFT.
In exposed exterior areas, over-coat Duram 195 with Multithane ATC (~3–4 m²/L). For tiling, top with sand/cement screed and provide joints to AS 3958.1.
Roofs/podiums: protection sheeting, geotextile/drainage cell before ballast/pebbles. Ground works: protection and drainage layers before backfill.
Only with Duram Solvent, max ~1 L per 15 L pail; consult technical advice. Do not use alternative solvents.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection and suitable protective clothing. Avoid skin and eye contact with uncured product.
Use in well-ventilated areas. Manage vapours appropriately, especially indoors or in confined spaces.
Solvent-based and combustible when uncured. Keep away from ignition sources. Store cool and dry, away from heat and flames.
Seek medical attention immediately in all cases of serious exposure.
Ensure sound, dry, clean and free from laitance, dust, curing compounds and contaminants. Rectify blowholes/defects with Resiflex FC or non-shrink mortar; allow to cure.
Use Primeseal MC (risk of moisture) or Primeseal SP per TDS. Two coats of Primeseal MC where entrapped moisture is possible.
Duram Primeseal MC / Primeseal SPClean and dry. Treat joints: seal with Resiflex FC; reinforce live cracks/joints with Leak-Seal Tape before field coats.
Prime per TDS. Additional priming may be required on porous or dusty substrates.
Duram Primeseal MC / Primeseal SPRemove rust and contaminants; apply rust converter if required before priming.
Use ME Primer; alternative Primeseal MC where specified.
Duram ME Primer / Primeseal MCClean, dry and secure. Butter edges or seal joints with Resiflex FC; allow to cure. Reinforce with Leak-Seal Tape where movement is expected.
Prime with Primeseal MC (timber/ply/particleboard) per TDS before membrane application.
Duram Primeseal MCRebate floor wastes; seal perimeters with Resiflex FC. Ensure components are securely fixed.
Prime plastics with Superprime 711 where required. Some retrofitted flanges may not need priming—seek technical guidance.
