This deep-penetrating solution creates an internal hydrophobic barrier that renders porous grout and substrates water-repellent while maintaining vapour diffusion to prevent moisture entrapment.
Engineered for reliability, the high pH resistance ensures stable performance on fresh concrete and sand/cement beds where standard sealers often fail. Application requires a strictly dry substrate to allow the solvent-based carrier to penetrate effectively; ensure the area is well-ventilated and the surface is out of use for 48 hours prior to sealing.
While it provides an invisible seal that preserves the original surface appearance, Adheseal Showerseal Sealer cannot bridge structural voids or cracked grout, which must be repaired before the three-coat soaking application to ensure watertight integrity.

No. Adheseal Showerseal is specifically designed to provide a water barrier without changing the overall appearance of the surface. It dries clear with a no-gloss or very low-gloss finish, preserving the natural look of your materials.
How long after application can the shower be used?
To achieve a full cure and ensure maximum effectiveness, the treated area should not be used for 24 to 48 hours after the final coat has been applied. This allows the hydrophobic barrier to fully establish within the substrate.
Can I use Showerseal to fill a visible crack in the grout?
No, this is a critical limitation. Showerseal is a deep penetrating liquid sealer, not a filler, and it cannot bridge cracks or fill voids. Any damaged, cracked, or loose grout must be removed and replaced, then allowed to dry before applying Showerseal.

Surface Preparation
Ensure the surface is completely clean, dry, and sound. For showers, stop use for 48 hours prior. Remove any loose grout, oils, or soap scum. Old sealants must be removed and the joint cleaned to ensure proper penetration.
Pro Tip: The drier the substrate, the deeper the penetration. Maximising the drying time before application is the key to achieving the most effective and long-lasting hydrophobic barrier. -
Application
Apply using a brush, roller, or low-pressure sprayer. It is essential to fully saturate the substrate.
For Shower Recesses
Apply 3 soaking coats, focusing on the grout lines. 250ml to 500ml is typically sufficient for a standard shower.
For Walls
Start at the top and work down, allowing the liquid to run evenly down the wall to ensure complete saturation.
Timing: Each coat should be touch dry in 2-4 hours at 25°C. Allow for proper drying between coats. -
Curing & Finishing
Allow the final coat to cure. The area can typically return to service after 24 to 48 hours. Any new sealant can be applied after the Showerseal has fully dried. Immediately wipe any liquid product off glass or glazed surfaces to prevent etching.
Pro Tip: When applying outdoors, do not apply if rain is imminent. Protect the freshly coated surface from all inclement weather until it has fully cured to guarantee performance.
Limitations & Safety
Product Limitations
Cannot bridge cracks or fill voids. This product is a liquid sealer, not a filler. All structural repairs to grout or masonry must be completed before application.
Not suitable for low-density or friable surfaces (e.g., crumbling sandstone), as an adequate build-up cannot be achieved to form a water barrier. Test areas are highly recommended.
Liquid Showerseal must be removed from glazed tiles and glass immediately to prevent the possibility of surface etching.

Fire & Handling Precautions
DANGEROUS GOODS CLASS 3: FLAMMABLE LIQUID. Keep away from all ignition sources including heat, sparks, open flames, and pilot lights. Do not smoke. Use non-sparking tools and ground all equipment to prevent static discharge.

Surface Preparation
Shower must be unused for 48 hours prior to application. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oils, soaps, and loose material. Rake out and replace any cracked or damaged grout and allow to dry. Remove old silicone and clean surfaces thoroughly.
Primer Requirements
No primer required
This product is a self-priming penetrative sealer. Do not apply any other primer before use.
Porous Masonry (Brick, Stone, Concrete, Pavers)
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be structurally sound, stable, dry, and clean. Remove any dust, loose/friable material, oils, grease, and curing compounds. Concrete must be cured for a minimum of 28 days. Substrate must be free from surface water.
