Selsil Ultra Clear is ideal for bathroom mirror sealing. It adheres well to glass and painted surfaces, is non-staining, and offers moisture and chemical resistance critical for wet areas. Avoid alcohol or solvent-based cleaners during curing for best results.
Tack-free time is approx. 35 minutes at 25°C and 50% RH. Full cure depends on joint size and ambient conditions but typically requires 24–48 hours for complete through-curing in normal outdoor conditions.
Yes. Selsil Ultra Clear bonds exceptionally well to aluminium, stainless steel, and other metal surfaces. For oily or anodised substrates, ensure proper surface preparation (clean, degrease) before applying.
Yes, it adheres well to most painted surfaces. However, pre-testing is recommended as certain paints may reduce adhesion. Avoid surfaces with uncured or elastomeric paints that may release solvents.
Avoid using on bituminous surfaces, EPDM, HDPE, natural rubber, PE, Teflon, or Delrin. These substrates may bleed oils or contain additives that affect curing or bonding.
Application / Use Case | Key Benefit | Primary Trades |
---|---|---|
Glass-to-aluminium façade sealing | Crystal-clear finish with UV stability for long-term appearance | Glaziers, Builders |
Mirror and splashback installation | Non-staining adhesion and high elasticity for wet area durability | Cabinet Makers, Renovators |
Ceramic tile repair and gap sealing | Excellent adhesion to glazed surfaces and movement accommodation | Waterproofers, Tilers |
Interior glass panel bonding | Low VOC, solvent-free formula safe for indoor use | Shopfitters, Joiners |
Exterior trim and flashing joints | Weatherproof, UV- and temperature-resistant for outdoor reliability | Builders, Cladding Installers |
All surfaces must be solid, clean, and dry. Remove dust, oil, loose materials, and contaminants. Use isopropyl alcohol or suitable cleaner depending on the substrate.
Wipe with lint-free cloth soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Avoid contact with bare hands post-cleaning.
Ensure paint is fully cured. Lightly abrade glossy areas to enhance adhesion.
Cut nozzle to desired bead width and apply sealant in a steady, continuous bead. Apply with a standard caulking gun.
Use a 5mm x 5mm bead as a minimum. Joint width should be twice the depth (e.g., 10mm wide x 5mm deep).
For mirror or panel fixing, apply spaced adhesive dots at 10cm intervals.
Tool the sealant immediately after application using a dry spatula or tool. Remove excess with a clean cloth.
Allow the sealant to fully cure before exposure to water or movement. Clean tools and surfaces with solvent before curing. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles. Avoid prolonged contact with skin and eyes.
Ensure adequate ventilation during application, especially in confined or indoor spaces.
Non-flammable. Keep away from heat sources during storage. Use standard chemical handling procedures.
Seek medical attention immediately in all cases of serious exposure.
Ensure glass is clean, dry, and free from grease or soap residues. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol using a lint-free cloth.
Direct adhesion is effective. Ensure surface is dry and temperature is within range.
Remove surface oxidation with Scotch-Brite, then clean with alcohol-based cleaner. Ensure no oil residues remain.
In critical joints or structural assemblies, use a metal primer like Selsil MetalBond Primer.
Selsil MetalBond PrimerEnsure tiles are clean, dry, and free of soap, mould, and grout dust. Use diluted vinegar to remove residues if necessary.
Selsil Ultra Clear bonds reliably to glazed surfaces without primer.
Ensure painted surfaces are fully cured (minimum 7 days) and clean. Lightly abrade gloss finishes to improve mechanical grip.
Test adhesion on a small area before full application. Use timber primer if adhesion is poor.
Wipe with plastic cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Roughen glossy surfaces with fine sandpaper for improved grip.
Use a specialty plastic primer compatible with the substrate type.
