Megapoxy 36 DuoMix provides a two-component epoxy solution designed for the demands of traffic applications. It ensures reflective road markers, carpark stops, and parking sensors bond firmly to bituminous and concrete surfaces, standing up to impact and dislodgement with minimal traffic disruption.
Megapoxy 36 DuoMix is a rapid-setting, two-component 1:1 epoxy resin system engineered specifically for bonding traffic infrastructure components. It addresses the need for a fast, reliable adhesive that can withstand the harsh conditions of roads and carparks. The twin cartridge system with a self-mixing nozzle simplifies application, making it ready for immediate use on site, reducing setup time and ensuring consistent mixing for optimal performance.
A bond strength of 7.5 MPa to ceramic and reflective markers ensures these critical safety components remain fixed even under constant vehicle impact and vibration. For concrete applications like carpark stops, Megapoxy 36 DuoMix achieves a bond strength of greater than 3 MPa. This exceeds the internal cohesive strength of most concrete, meaning the bond will typically outperform the substrate itself. Its impact strength of over 12 Joule provides resistance against direct strikes from vehicles, reducing the risk of dislodgement and repeat repairs. A rapid minimum cure time of 1 hour at 25°C means road surfaces can be reopened quickly, minimising traffic disruption and labour costs.
Megapoxy 36 DuoMix is supplied in a 600ml twin cartridge with a static mixing nozzle, providing a convenient, ready-to-use system. The crucial 1:1 mixing ratio is handled automatically by the nozzle, but it is essential that both components are thoroughly mixed and dispensed until the material is a uniform colour to achieve full strength and prevent discoloration. Working time at 25°C is approximately 3 minutes, demanding efficient application. Substrates must be prepared by cleaning, degreasing, and mechanically abrading to remove laitance and improve adhesion. Concrete should be free from grease and oil, with surface laitance removed by mechanical abrasion like scabbling or grinding. Bitumen surfaces require degreasing or solvent washing to remove road grime. For tool and equipment cleanup before the epoxy cures, use Megapoxy Thinners.
Unlike general-purpose adhesives, Megapoxy 36 DuoMix is a rapid-setting, specialised 1:1 epoxy system designed for high-strength, impact-resistant bonding of road markers and sensors, delivered via a convenient twin cartridge with a self-mixing nozzle. Warning: This material is hazardous according to Safe Work Australia GHS 7 criteria. It causes skin irritation, serious eye irritation, and may cause an allergic skin reaction. Part B is harmful if swallowed. Both parts are toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
Wear safety shoes, gloves (nitrile rubber recommended), safety glasses, and suitable respiratory protection. Wash hands thoroughly after handling and before eating, drinking, or smoking. Contaminated work clothing should not leave the workplace.
Natural ventilation should be adequate under normal use conditions. Avoid breathing dust, fume, gas, mist, vapours, or spray.
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight, away from foodstuffs, oxidising agents, heat, and ignition sources. Keep containers upright and closed. Check regularly for spills. This product is a Schedule 5 Poison (Caution) and must be stored, maintained, and used according to relevant regulations. Part A is classified as Class 9 Dangerous Goods for transport and storage.
For disposal, ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is used. Recycle material and container if possible. Otherwise, dispose of in accordance with local, regional, national, and international regulations.
Proper surface preparation is critical for achieving the documented bond strengths and ensuring long-term performance.
Surface prep: Ensure concrete is free from grease and oil, cleaning with an industrial heavy-duty degreaser if necessary. Remove surface laitance by mechanical abrasion such as scabbling, grit blasting, or grinding. For painted concrete, flame-clean or scutch to remove all traces of paint, then complete preparation by diamond grinding or scabbling.
Primer: Not required for prepared concrete.
Surface prep: Degrease and/or solvent wash to remove road grime, oils, and grease. Mechanically roughening the surface will aid in better adhesion.
