Fibreglass Reinforcing Mat 225gsm is a 225g/m² fibreglass reinforcement strip for compatible liquid-applied waterproofing and coating systems. It adds a reinforcement layer across specified corners, junctions and changes of direction where the membrane system calls for embedded glass-fibre matting.
Choose this mat when the membrane supplier specifically permits fibreglass reinforcement. It is not a waterproofing membrane by itself and should not be used to bridge moving joints without the prescribed bond breaker or movement detail.
Where fibreglass reinforcement is useful
- Shower and bathroom corners: reinforcing specified membrane junctions before the finish is installed.
- Balcony and terrace details: embedding into compatible external waterproofing systems at appropriate transitions.
- Wall-to-floor connections: adding reinforcement across correctly prepared changes in plane.
- Penetration surrounds: reinforcing approved local details where the membrane system calls for it.
Size and installation
The available variants are 100mm × 125m and 150mm × 125m. Apply a suitable wet base coat, bed the mat fully into the membrane, remove folds and air pockets and completely cover it with the required additional coats. Check whether the chosen membrane calls for polyester rather than fibreglass reinforcement.
Cut and handle glass fibre with appropriate skin, eye and dust protection. Compatibility and finished performance depend on the complete waterproofing specification.
