Acetone Cleaning Solvent is an acetone cleaning solvent that removes difficult residues including waxes, oils, and polyurethane adhesives for industrial and trade maintenance, with a fast-evaporation rate that minimizes downtime during surface preparation. This solvent serves as a critical thinning agent for acetone-based PVC and polyurethane adhesives, as well as polyester resins utilized in automotive and marine fiberglass repairs. It is chemically compatible with water, alcohols, esters, and ethers, allowing it to dissolve a wide range of natural and synthetic gums or dyes. Because Acetone Cleaning Solvent is a highly flammable Class 3 liquid, it must be applied in controlled, well-ventilated environments to prevent the accumulation of hazardous vapors.

Frequently Asked Questions About Adheseal Acetone

Q: Can I use Adheseal Acetone to clean epoxy applicators?

A: Yes. Its rapid-dissolving capability makes it highly effective for cleaning uncured epoxy from tools and mixing vessels. Always use in a well-ventilated area to avoid vapour build-up.

Q: Is this product safe for polystyrene foam substrates?

A: No. Acetone will dissolve polystyrene foam. Avoid using it for cleaning or thinning near foam insulation or foam mouldings.

Q: What is the evaporation rate of Adheseal Acetone?

A: It evaporates very rapidly—slower than ether but significantly faster than most commercial solvents. This makes it ideal for quick drying without residue.

Q: Can I use it to thin polyester or PU adhesives?

A: Absolutely. It’s compatible with acetone-based PU and PVC adhesives and polyester resins used in marine or auto fibreglass applications.

Q: Is this solvent environmentally friendly?

A: Yes. It contains zero VOCs and is considered VOC-exempt under Australian emission standards, making it suitable for environmentally sensitive applications.
