Description  

Autoshield Activator AP1001 is a clear surface-treatment wipe for polyurethane autoglass bonding. It improves adhesion to compatible glass and lacquered surfaces before the specified primer or polyurethane windscreen adhesive is applied.

Choose the Activator where the Autoshield glazing system calls for surface activation, particularly on plain glass. Unlike the black Autoshield GB Primer, AP1001 does not create an opaque UV-blocking bond line.

Where it fits

  • Plain-glass windscreen preparation: a cleaning and activation stage before the specified GB Primer and adhesive.
  • Polyurethane glass bonding: pre-treating suitable glass where adhesion testing and system instructions require it.
  • Lacquered automotive bond surfaces: enhancing adhesion to compatible finished surfaces after appropriate preparation.

How to use

Apply very sparingly to clean, dry, grease-free surfaces with a clean lint-free applicator. In the NP-60 plain-glass procedure, wipe off following the specified short solvent-evaporation interval before priming. Work between approximately 5°C and 40°C under suitable site conditions.

Discard if the liquid becomes milky or cloudy, indicating moisture contamination. Close the container promptly, use good ventilation and confirm suitability on the actual glass or coating. This is not a general-purpose glass cleaner and is not itself a structural windscreen adhesive.

How To Apply  
Ensure the surface is dry, clean and free from grease, oil, dust and other contamination. Apply a very thin, even film with a clean cloth or tissue. Allow the activator to dry completely, normally in under 5 minutes. Keep the activated area clean and apply the compatible polyurethane adhesive within the time allowed by the current TDS. Close the container promptly after use to minimise contamination.
Limitations and Safety Info  
Use only on compatible non-porous surfaces. Test plastics before full application. Do not use outside the 5°C to 40°C application range. Do not use material that has changed appearance or become contaminated. Follow the current SDS for solvent handling, ventilation and ignition controls.
