Application Guide

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are structurally sound, stable, dry, clean, and free of dust, loose material, oils, grease, form release agents, curing compounds, and any other contaminants. Ensure surfaces are free from surface water and continual dampness. Concrete must be allowed to cure for at least 28 days.
  2. Priming: Due to the high bond strength of Adheseal sealants, adhesion is very often achieved without priming on most substrates. For optimal adhesion and critical high-performance applications, follow priming or surface preparation guidelines as per Adheseal recommendations.
  3. Application: Apply at temperature between 5°C to 40°C using a triangular nozzle. Insert cartridge or sausage into caulking gun. Hold gun at 90º angle with nozzle in contact with the surface. Apply by dispensing the adhesive behind the nozzle, ensuring the adhesive stands in a triangular bead twice the height as its width. Press the load onto the adhesive while it is still wet, ensuring the adhesive remains at least 2mm thick for optimal performance.
  4. Tooling: Tool off with a moistened spatula to finish the joint smoothly before the skin forms, approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Cleaning: While the product is still wet, clean tools and spills with white spirit. For cured product removal, use mechanical means.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for totally confined spaces
  • Not suitable for aquariums
  • Not suitable for structural glazing
  • May discolour copper and brass
  • Avoid cleaning or treating the sealant with materials, cleaning agents, or solvents that may affect or discolour the sealant during curing
  • Do not use in closed rooms or expose to thermal, mechanical, or chemical influences before complete vulcanisation
  • On polyacrylate and polycarbonate, structural glazing – consult technical service department
  • Avoid contact with uncured polyurethanes during curing
  • The drying time of alkyd resin-based paints may increase
  • Preliminary compatibility tests recommended for specific substrates such as plastics
  • Contact with bitumen, tar, or other plasticizer releasing materials such as EPDM, neoprene, and butyl is to be avoided
