How To Apply  

Application Guide

  1. Ensure substrates are sound, clean, and free from contamination.
  2. If necessary, prime the substrate with the appropriate primer.
  3. Priming is recommended for concrete floor joints using Primer 2001. For suspect surfaces, adhesion testing is recommended. Apply the correct primer and allow it to dry when required.
  4. Use Adheseal Backing Rod open cell where required. Closed cell backer rod is also suitable but avoid damaging the outer skin to prevent gassing in the sealant. Bond breaker tape is necessary for joints where backer rod cannot be used.
  5. Fill the prepared joint completely, taking care not to entrap air. Dry tool immediately before the sealant skins. Tooling time is a minimum of 10 minutes depending on temperature and humidity. Joint depth must be half the depth of the width with a minimum depth of 10mm.

Not suitable for internal swimming pool applications.

Additional Information

  • Megaprene 40gg is paintable with most commonly available paints. Testing is recommended. Megaprene 40gg must be fully cured before paint is applied. Failure to do this can result in retarding of the curing of the PU sealant and the paint topcoat resulting in a tacky surface.
  • Uncured material can be removed using industrial strength solvent such as Xylol or mineral turps.
