Everbond WBP is a water-based, concrete-compatible polymer emulsion primer designed to enhance the adhesion of Adheseal membranes and coatings to porous surfaces. This penetrative primer, with its low VOC content, meets Green Star environmental criteria, making it a safe and eco-friendly choice for construction professionals and DIYers alike.

Key Features

  • Water-based and low VOC: Environmentally friendly and safe to use.
  • Concrete compatible: Ideal for priming concrete surfaces.
  • Penetrative primer: Effectively seals porous substrates for improved adhesion.
  • Beds down dust: Creates a clean, uniform surface for subsequent applications.
  • Economical: Offers excellent value for money.
  • Easy application: Can be applied by brush, broom, roller, or spray.
  • Single pack: No mixing required, ready to use.

Uses

  • Priming porous substrates before applying water-based membranes or coatings.
  • Concrete surfaces (including floors, walls, and ceilings)
  • Brickwork and masonry
  • Cement-based render and screeds
  • Other porous building materials

Benefits

  • Enhances adhesion of water-based membranes and coatings.
  • Reduces the porosity of substrates, resulting in a smoother, more uniform finish.
  • Minimises the risk of pinholes and air bubbles in the applied membrane or coating.
  • Helps to prevent the formation of efflorescence on concrete surfaces.
  • Improves the overall durability and longevity of the waterproofing system.

Application Guide

  1. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and sound.
  2. Apply one coat of Everbond WBP at a rate of 4 sqm per litre using a brush, broom, roller, or spray.
  3. For highly porous or dusty surfaces, a second coat may be required.
  4. Allow the primer to dry completely before applying the membrane or coating.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for non-porous surfaces (metal, glass, etc.).
  • Not recommended for very smooth concrete, glazed tiles, marble, terrazzo, particle board, or chipboard.

Application:

Primer WBP can be applied to a clean, dry, and sound substrate using a brush, broom, roller, or spray. One good coat at the rate of 4 sqm per liter is generally sufficient. However, significantly porous, friable, and dusty surfaces may require the application of a second coat. For best results, the subsequent membranes or coatings should be applied to the primed surface as soon as the primer is fully dried and before the surface can become contaminated. Ensure that the primed surface is clean and free from any contaminants. If the primed surface does become contaminated, clean and dry it before applying a further coat of Primer WBP.

Drying and Curing:

Drying and curing of the product are affected by the type, dryness, and porosity of the surface, temperature, humidity, ventilation, climate conditions, and application technique. Therefore, drying and curing can only be given as a guide. Leave to dry for 4 to 24 hours before the application of the waterproofing membrane.

Tiling, Topping or Top Coating:

Primer WBP is designed to be compatible with Adheseal water-based membranes. Do not directly stick tiles to this primer.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for non-porous surfaces (metal, glass, etc.).
  • Not recommended for very smooth concrete, glazed tiles, marble, terrazzo, particle board, or chipboard.
