Duram WB Primer

PRIMEWBD/4

Duram WB Primer is a water-based, polymer emulsion that enhances the adhesion of various acrylic membranes, including Durabit EF, Durabit Reo, Duram Azcothane, and Crystoflex. This penetrative primer exhibits excellent adhesion properties, especially on porous surfaces. Notably, it meets the 'Green Star' environmental criteria and has very low VOCs, ensuring a safe and eco-friendly application.

This primer is ideal for priming porous substrates before the application of water-based membranes or coatings. However, it is not suitable for use on non-porous surfaces, metal, shiny or smooth concrete, glazed tiles, marble, terrazzo, particle board, or chipboard.

Limitations:

  • Not recommended for particle board or chipboard. Duram Primeseal MC is recommended for these surfaces.
  • Not a vapour barrier. For exposed areas or where entrapped moisture may cause bubbling of the membrane, use Duram Primeseal MC.

Coverage:

Coverage rate varies depending on the type, condition, porosity, texture of the surface, and application technique. General coverage is approximately 4 sqm per litre, but this may vary based on the porosity of the surface. Available in 1, 4, and 15 Lt containers.

Drying and Curing:

Drying and curing times depend on various factors, including surface type, dryness, porosity, temperature, humidity, ventilation, and climate conditions. As a guide, curing usually takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Clean Up:

Wet spills can be cleaned with water, but it's important to avoid spills, especially on porous surfaces. On concrete and non-porous surfaces, use a cloth and water for wet spills. For carpets, allow the product to cure before shaving the affected area. Equipment should be cleaned with water immediately after use.

Storage and Packaging:

Store Duram WB Primer in a cool, dry place away from heat and freezing. The product is not flammable and is available in 4 Lt and 15 Lt pails, with 15 liters equating to 16 kg. Shelf life is 12 months in an unopened container, and any skinned portions of the product should be cut out and removed before use.
