Gripset C-Mastic

Gripset C-Mastic is a high-strength, polymer-modified tile adhesive designed for commercial projects using large-format tiles and stone. Its white, non-slump formula, enhanced with advanced polymer technology, provides excellent adhesion for large tiles on both walls and floors, indoors and outdoors.

Application Guide

1. Surface Preparation:
   • Ensure the substrate is structurally sound, smooth, stable, dry, and clean.
   • Repair surface defects, fill voids, and ensure brick/block surfaces are pointed flush and rendered (use Gripset 11Y for concrete/masonry repairs).
   • Remove sharp objects, loose material, contaminants, and residues.
   • Mechanically remove unsound layers and contaminants.
   • Consult Gripset for appropriate primers for different surfaces.
   • Ensure concrete slabs are wood float finished, cured for at least 7 days, and meet the required flatness tolerance.
   • Allow screeds and renders to cure for at least 16 hours before tiling.
   • Fix plasterboard and fibre cement products as per manufacturer's instructions.
   • Prime porous surfaces with Gripset GP primer and non-porous surfaces (e.g., Scyon) with Gripset OP primer.
   • Clean and repair existing tiles, then prime with Gripset OP.
   • Clean Gripset under-tile membranes before applying C-Mastic.
2. Mixing:
   • Combine a 20kg bag of Gripset C-Mastic with 6 litres of clean water in a clean pail.
   • Mix using an electric stirrer until a consistent, lump-free mixture is achieved.
   • Allow the adhesive to settle for 2-3 minutes, then lightly re-stir before use.
3. Application:
   • Apply adhesive using a notched trowel (10mm for floor tiles, 6mm for wall tiles).
   • Ensure a bed thickness of 2-10mm, depending on tile type.
   • Press tiles firmly into the adhesive, sliding them at a right angle to the notches.
   • Use the buttering method for tiles with lugs or uneven backings.

Limitations

• Not recommended for direct use over timber flooring (consult Gripset for advice).
• Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C or above 35°C.
• Avoid letting notched adhesive skin over; bed tiles into wet adhesive for full contact.
• Open time is approximately 35 minutes, and adjustment time is approximately 60 minutes, but can vary with site conditions.
• Contains cement products that may include crystalline silica; take precautions to avoid dust inhalation.
• Product is alkaline, so wear gloves and eye protection.
