Megapoxy 154 Epoxy (2 Part Kit)

Megapoxy 154 is a two component water based epoxy which combines the superior adhesion and toughness of Megapoxy resins with the advantages of using water as a carrier. Megapoxy 154 is used to prime, coat and seal concrete and masonry surfaces. Megapoxy 154 cures to a matte, tough, chemical and water resistant coating with excellent adhesion to sound concrete. Megapoxy 154 is recommended for use as a protective coating on concrete surfaces exposed to chemicals, foot traffic and light vehicular traffic. Since Megapoxy 154 is an environmentally friendly product it is particularly suited to large areas such as car parks and warehouses etc.

Application Guide

1. Surface Preparation:
   • Ensure all surfaces are structurally sound.
   • Remove previous coatings, adhesives, efflorescence, or laitance through appropriate means such as grinding or high-pressure water washing.
   • Clean surfaces free from dirt, grease, oil, or other contaminants.
   • Repair holes, non-structural cracks, and surface deformities before application.
2. Mixing Procedure:
   • Mix 1 part A with 1 part B by volume.
   • Stir for a minimum of 3 minutes.
   • Up to 25% water can be added and mixed until homogeneous.
   • Accurate measurement and thorough mixing are essential.
3. Application:
   • Porous concrete may require 3 coats.
   • Mix using mechanical stirrers.
   • Apply within the pot life.
   • Ensure thorough coverage, working material into the substrate to fill voids.
   • Apply successive coats at right angles to the previous coat.
4. Finish Options:
   • Smooth Finish: Apply by brush, roller, or airless spray at a rate of 5 – 8 sqm / litre.
   • Non-Slip Finish: Mix fine epoxy grade sand aggregate for a fine finish, or broadcast aggregate for a coarser finish.

Limitations

• Do not apply to steel or metal surfaces to prevent corrosion.
• Do not add cementitious products to the mixture.
• Not a waterproof membrane on its own; use a dedicated waterproofing membrane.
• Provide ventilation in enclosed areas.
• May chalk and yellow when exposed to UV light; apply a UV-resistant topcoat for external use.
• Not compatible with substrates previously treated with certain compounds or coatings.
