Primer VBS is a high-performance 2-part water-based epoxy primer suitable for a wide range of applications. It serves as a vapour barrier system, primer for waterproofing systems, negative hydrostatic membrane, and floor coating systems. This versatile primer exhibits excellent adhesion on common substrates, including damp surfaces. It can be used for parquetry systems, in-situ concrete, brick, stone, blocks, fiber cement, Scyon sheeting, AAC systems, precast, tilt-up panels, particle board, and ply underlay, among others. Primer VBS can also function as a negative side membrane, effectively stopping water seepage and permeation in building and construction substrates.

Product Characteristics:

  • Colour: Very Light Grey
  • Size: 20 Litre Kit

Uses:

Primer VBS is commonly used for the following applications:

  • Vapour barrier and primer for parquetry systems and waterproofing systems
  • On in-situ concrete, brick, stone, blocks, fiber cement, Scyon sheeting, AAC systems, precast, tilt-up panels, particle board, and ply underlay
  • Negative side membrane to prevent water seepage and permeation

Coverage:

  • Vapour Barrier-Parquetry Flooring: Apply in 2 coats at a minimum rate of 200 um (microns). The coverage rate is approximately 5 m² per liter depending on surface porosity.
  • Primer-Membrane Systems: Apply at a rate of 4-8 m² per liter. Excessively porous substrates may require a second coat. Apply the second coat after 4 hours and within 24 hours.
  • Negative Membrane System: Repair cracks and fill holes. Apply all coats between 4 and 24 hours of the previous coat. The average coverage rate is 3 m² per liter, but it may vary based on surface type, condition, porosity, texture, and application technique. To achieve effective waterproofing, a minimum of 2 coats applied at 3m² per liter per coat is required. Additional coats should be applied until the minimum dry film thickness of 0.33mm is achieved. Waterproofing properties are enhanced when used with suitable waterproofing membranes.

Clean Up:

Tools and equipment can be cleaned with water while Primer VBS is still wet. Once cured, clean up can be done using chemical paint strippers or mechanical means.

Shelf Life:

Primer VBS has a minimum shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture.
