Sealproof Silicone Sealant 300ml

SA Sealproof Silicone Sealant is a one-part, low-modulus alkoxy silicone sealant designed for various weatherproofing applications. It is resistant to weathering, UV radiation, and temperature extremes, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. SA Sealproof is compatible with various construction materials, including glass, metal, and plastics, and offers excellent primerless adhesion to many substrates.

Uses

• Glazing applications, such as in-shop and field glazing of curtain wall modules.
• Sealing assemblies of metals, masonry, concrete, coated surfaces, plastics, wood, and other common construction materials.
• Weatherproofing and glazing applications subject to movement, particularly in butt joints or lap shear joints.
• Creating primary or secondary seals against water, air, and dust penetration in glazing and curtain-wall assemblies.

Application Guide

1. Cut the nozzle at a 45-degree angle to the desired bead width.
2. Apply to the substrate with a sealant gun and tool within 20-30 minutes.
3. Clean up uncured sealant with mineral turpentine.
4. Use a primer on surfaces that require it (e.g., concrete, mill finish aluminium, galvanised steel).
5. Use approved backing material for joints over 10mm deep.
6. Use masking tape for a neat appearance and remove it before the sealant skins over.

Limitations

• Not recommended for continuous water immersion.
• Not recommended for unpredictably absorptive surfaces like marble or limestone.
• Not recommended for totally confined spaces, as the sealant requires atmospheric moisture to cure.
• Cannot be painted over.

Adhesion Characteristics

SA Sealproof Silicone Sealant was used to adhere wire screening to a variety of common construction surfaces using the adhesion in peel configuration. After 21 days of 23°C (75°F) /50% RH followed by 7 days immersion in water the adhesive bonds are tested in a 180 peel-back test using a jaw separation speed of 2” per minute. The actual results are given in pounds force per inch of peel strength and percent cohesive failure.
