Gripset 51 - Solvent Free Bitument Rubber Membrane

Gripset 51 is a solvent-free, bitumen rubber liquid membrane renowned for its exceptional sealing and adhesion properties across various porous and non-porous surfaces. It is a versatile solution suitable for both new and existing construction projects, particularly in underground and external applications. In addition to its waterproofing capabilities, Gripset 51 can also serve as a protective coating for timber and metal surfaces.

Application Guide

1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is structurally sound, smooth, stable, dry, and clean. Repair any defects, remove contaminants, and fill voids or uneven areas.
2. Priming:
   • Porous surfaces: Dilute Gripset 51 1:3 with water.
   • Non-porous surfaces: Dilute Gripset 51 1:1 with water or use Gripset OP Primer.
   • Immersed areas, porous surfaces, asphalt/bitumen surfaces, existing coatings: Use Gripset 11Y slurry.
   • Surfaces with residual moisture or rising damp: Use Gripset P10 or E60 primer.
3. Detailing: Seal joints, junctions, movement zones, penetrations, drainage points, and cracks using appropriate sealants and reinforcements.
4. Apply Gripset 51: Apply a minimum of two coats at a total minimum coverage of 1.5 litres/m², achieving a dried film thickness of approximately 1.2mm. Apply subsequent coats in different directions.
5. For specific applications, such as high-build or low-build membrane systems, follow the mixing ratios and instructions provided in the technical data sheet.

Limitations

• Not suitable as a trafficable coating
• Not for direct application of tiles, renders, screeds, paints, or other surface finishes
• Avoid application in imminent rain or on glass/glazed surfaces
• Not designed for expansion or control joints
• Do not use in areas prone to solvent/petroleum spills, rising damp, or negative hydrostatic conditions
• Application temperature range: 5°C to 35°C

Additional Information

• Surface crazing may occur with long-term UV exposure
• Product can be applied over damp surfaces, but curing time may be extended
• Consult Gripset Technical Services for compatibility with existing paints, membranes, or coatings
• Shelf life: 24 months in unopened container
