Styrobond ST - Spray Grade Polystyrene Foam Adhesive

Styrobond ST is a specially formulated contact adhesive designed for bonding various porous and non-porous materials, such as sheet metals, fibre cement sheets, plywood, and particle board, to expanded polystyrene foam. Styrobond ST utilizes special solvents that have no detrimental effect on polystyrene foam, unlike conventional contact adhesives.

Application Guide

1. Clean and dry all surfaces, removing grease, oil, dust, etc.
2. Wipe metal surfaces with solvent for optimal bond strength.
3. Apply a liberal, even coat to both surfaces and allow to dry.
4. Bring surfaces together and apply pressure with a wooden block and mallet, small hand roller, or mechanical nip roller.
5. Use heavier coats for porous surfaces.
6. For spray application, maintain a distance of 20-30cm and ensure even coverage.
7. Apply pressure using mechanical nip rollers (700kg/m²) or hand rollers, rubber mallets, or wooden blocks.
8. For difficult laminates, use G-clamps or sash clamps during the bonding period.

Limitations

• Avoid application in temperatures below 18°C with high humidity due to potential for faulty bonds.
• Ensure complete drying of films on non-porous surfaces to prevent trapped solvent affecting bond strength and heat resistance.
